Shanghai - Tradition and Modernity Tour
Tour Planning Request
China is the most emerging world power. Moreover it is a country that has suffered a big transformation in the recent years, which has left a profound impression on its most recent architecture. In Shanghai, the recent Universal Expo in 2010 has spread activity for the architecture studios involved, such as Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid and OMA.
Our tour is guided by an architect, and will take us ahead the pedestrian Street Nanjin, replete of shops. We will visit the old town, the esplanade over the Huangpo River and the Yuyuan Garden. Then we will cross the river to visit the observatory at Shanghai World Financial Center in the financial center of Lu Jia Zhui, the Jin Mao Tower by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and the Oriental Pearl. Later we will walk through the neighborhood of Pudong, replete of skyscrapers. Toyo Ito, Massimiliano Fuksas, Richard Rogers and Dominique Perrault have made their proposals for this area, therefore we will be able to see them on our tour.
However, we can also offer you different tours, including the Expo Zone on the shores of the Huangpu River, a part of the legacy in the district of Puxi (north shore) and Pudong (south shore). We can still see the remodeling, sanitation and reconstruction of the old industrial zone on the shores of the Huangpu River and, of course, part of the pavilions that have been adapted to their different uses.
Tradition and modernity unite in this country in constant evolution. You will love it!
